NEW MEMBER EDUCATION

Our seven-week new member education process prioritizes building real skills relevant to any individual, regardless of their interested field or major. Each week our new member educators will facilitate learning through modules that educate and engage our new members on the history of the fraternity, professional development and proper business etiquette.  At the end of this process, we hope new members will feel confident and prepared to make an impact within our fraternity, and also within the greater business environment. Below are some highlights from the process.

RESUME REVIEWS AND INTERVIEW PREP

All new members undergo professional development training as they become full brothers of AKPsi. PD modules explore business attire basics, resume tips and tricks, as well as internship advice. All new members have their resumes reviewed twice by a cohort of brothers, who provide helpful feedback and the opportunity to meet 1-1 to discuss their resumes further. Midcourt interviews and Court of Honor are two opportunities new members will be able to showcase and hone their newfound interview skills.

COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT

One of the core pillars of AKPsi is service. As such, new members are tasked with organizing and running a community service activity or fundraiser to support the local community. The pledge class liaison, one of the new members who acts as the intermediary between the pledge class and brotherhood, is largely responsible for organizing this event.

NEW MEMBER RETREAT

The new member retreat promotes brother bonding in a casual setting or activity of their choosing. Transportation and costs of the retreat are covered by the fraternity, which in the past have included: bowling and dinner, movie nights, mini golf, trips to College Creek, etc.

BROTHER MEETINGS

Brother meetings are one on one outings between a new member and a current brother. New members are encouraged to meet with brothers they may not already know, and can use these informal meetings to become more acclimated with AKPsi, advice about scheduling and courses, B-School application tips, and more.
